Blog giveaway - the sewing calendar 2011

Roll up, roll up! I'm having a Christmas blog giveaway to thank anyone who's still here reading after my part-time blogging stint, and also for any lurkers or newcomers, the more the merrier!

Back in the mists of time (well, last December), I was contacted by Megan Smith to see whether I'd like to contribute two of my tutorials to the Sewing Calendar 2011. Naturally, I jumped at the chance, so you'll find my jewellery roll and napkin set tutorials alongside some beautiful and useful projects by other sewing bloggers. Projects include pintuck cushions by Ellen Luckett Baker from thelongthread, a chick finger puppet by Amy Adams of lucykatecrafts, felt bauble decorations by Laura Howard of lupinhandmade and bugsandfishes, a bag by Autumn Hall of creativelittledaisy, toe separators by Julia Bremble of marmaladekiss and a coffee cup sleeve by Kyoko Nakayoshi of cottonandcloud. All in all there are over 100 sewing projects including home decor items, bags and pouches, aprons and decorative items.

If you'd like to enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post by midnight GMT on Tuesday 21st December telling me what you'll be sewing in 2011. I'll pick a winner from all the entries and post here, so please check back to see if you've won (blogger doesn't always give me people's email addresses to get in touch directly). Once the winner has emailed their address to me I'll get the calendar in the post for lots of sewing inspiration in 2011.

  8. I am planning to make a quilt (my first big one) for my little girl and it's going to be made from her baby clothes. I usually give the clothes she has outgrown to a friend of mine but have kept some favourites and some stained clothes for this project.

  9. I too am planning to make a quilt. I have just finished my first one, a double for my daughter and to be honest its not the best!! I think I should have started out smaller and worked my way up, say a cot quilt. But I'm sure come christmas morning she will appreciate her rustic new patchwork, well here's hoping :)

  10. Hi Helen - what a lovely blog:) I've vowed to get a bit braver in 2011 and start making myself some clothes! I've had so many ideas routing through my stash (mostly of charity shop finds - retro bedding is awesome!), so I think it's about time I got making. Wish me luck x

  13. I am a novice. I used your tutorial to make my second ever project...napkins. So I think that in 2011 I will be making more napkins. LOL Someday I would like to make a little girls sundress though.

  16. Last summer almost all of my daughter's dresses were homemade. I hope I can do that again next year. A sewing calendar would definitely keep me motivated.

  18. Lovely giveaway. Seems some of these projects would be added to the 2011 sewing. I plan to complete UFOs. Many in progress and others in line waiting to be started. Everything is there ready to make. No shopping required. Hope to meet the challenge.

  21. Great to see that you are back! I'd love the calendar, although I must admit we do have one of those ones with columns for each person and in this house it is the only way we know what's going on. I will be sewing a bag for myself, if I write it enough times it will happen! I sew so much for others I really must do some for me. Thanks.

  23. 2011 sewing: I had better sew the roman blind for the other dining-room window soon! Also some shirts for my return to the workforce and I think your catnip fish would be a great beginner project for me to share with my 11yo dd. I'm glad you asked me to think about this!

  24. For 2011 I hope to make my first quilt. Also I want to finish the new curtains for my bedroom. It would also be good to make some clothes for myself. I SO need some new clothes but would like to make at least some of them. Of course this is all dependant upon finally getting my sewing area sorted.

  25. Oh, good, I'm in time for a chance - my bloomin' blogreader thing has lost half my blogs. It's driving me nutty...

Hmm, sewing in 2011? Do you want the whole list? I think there might be about 5003 things on it at present. 1st up is a wee laundry bag for each kid's room, though. Oh, and some drawstring bags to organise their toys. And I haven't made myself any clothes yet. Oh, and I was planning a first aid kid pouch. And a travel sewing kit. And...

Ok, what are toe separators? Well, I can imagine what they do, but why?

  29. I am planning to improve my dressmaking skills by using the new books I ordered and working on some clothes for myself and the girls. I'll also be making hats and handbags for the business, plus figuring out if my husband will notice if I make new curtains for the bedroom - again!

  30. Wow, that's an awesome looking sewing calendar... Much better than most supposed crafty offerings on the shelves. I am inspired just by the little bits I can see!! This would most certainly be used!! My project for 2011 has to be some dining room chair covers. I could cheat and get the Ikea ones, but I feel I should be making my own. I think I shall go for red and white scandi style, or maybe blue and white.... Oh that's just why I haven't started!!

Loving the look by the way. I'm just getting back into the blogosphere after a 3 month break and I just adore the simplicity of the buttons image you have...

    Merry Christmas!!

    Emma xx
